Find this gorgeous Eva Gordon Vase of Apples
Video Translation: Hi this is Jennifer here with City Farmhouse Antiques and I am here with this week's Find of the Week. This beautiful vase is by artist Eva Gordon. She was a professional architect until she was in a car accident. During the process of healing she decided to take an art class in ceramics to pass the time. She happened to absolutely love it and started making her own sculptures. She had an affinity for fruits, vegetables, and flowers and builds these incredible pieces. Each piece is unique and hand sculpted and hand painted. She makes plates, baskets with fruits and flowers in them and vases like this one. Every single leaf is just amazing. The detail on the stems, the leaves, the edges of the leaves..I'm taking this video and thinking about how tricky it will be for me to pack and ship this piece. You can see how the mouth of the vase is covered in these green apples. The glaze is beautiful with this bright, vibrant chartreuse green color and you can see the brown tips on the stems. She has a little ladybug in here. Even when you look at the bottoms of the apples, there you can see close up, they look so life-like. This would be a pretty piece for a kitchen or as a centerpiece in the living room. It is just nice and says "spring". Her pieces are all signed. This piece is very heavy and is huge at about 12" tall. I thought it would be fun to give you some information about this great artist. She was European born and lives in Toronto. Her pieces sell nation and world wide and can be found in museums and fine tabletop and gift stores. She stumbled upon her success with art pottery because she enjoyed making the pieces. She first sold a piece for a Children's Hospital auction, what a fabulous cause, that went for over $3,000.00. She thought maybe I am on to something here and the rest was history. This Eva Gordon piece was just posted on our website. It is a new piece to the shop. Be sure and check out all of our art pottery and collectibles on our website where we have more than just antiques. We will see you again next week. Until then, we can be found at www.cityfarmhouseantiques.com
