On a Safari in this week's Find of the Week

Find our exquisite art glass collection. Video Translation: Hi this is Jennifer here with City Farmhouse Antiques and I am here again with the Find of the Week and I have a beautiful piece of glass. I didn't even know I liked glass until I started this business. I started City Farmhouse Antiques with pieces my grandparents had. In learning about those pieces, and then selling those pieces I had seed money to buy and sell more things and my attraction really became to glass. Glass of all kinds is really so beautiful and there are so many unique glass blowers that have so many different styles and designs unique to their work and this piece is definitely no different. It caught my eye right when I saw it and new it needed to be added to our unique collection. It is very, very unique. This piece is actually made by an artist here in the United States, Steven Correia. They have a family owned glass blowing shop or company that they started back in 1973. He is a very well known artist. They produce very beautiful pieces using a lot of old hand blowing techniques with modern technology and their pieces have been in and are in the Smithsonian and Metropolitan Museum of Art so this artist is definitely well known. This piece is amber, because of the color, and titled Amber Giraffes. This is actually an artist proof piece. There were only 50 ever made and this is number 6 out of 50. You can see the giraffes here. It is cameo style so you can see how it has that translucent color with the amber, giving it an almost frosted appearance, but yet it is see through and you can see the silhouettes. You can see the African scene here with the giraffes and the African trees. You can see the contrast of color with the black against the amber and it is just striking. Look at the inside of this piece. This piece comes with the original paperwork and it is signed and numbered being part of a limited edition. It is about 10" tall. It is just breathtaking, and in wonderful condition. I wanted to share that with you today. For those of you that love collecting art glass I warn you..getting on our website can be dangerous.
