Find this Heirloom here: https://www.cityfarmhouseantiques.com /collections/jewelry-vanity-boxes Video Translation: Hi this is Jennifer here with City Farmhouse Antiques and I am here with this week's find of the week. As I mentioned several week's ago I just got back from an antiquing trip down South and this is one of the pieces I brought back which happens to be one of my favorites. I know I say this quite often, but this piece is just eye candy. Look at this beautiful and colorful hand painted piece of porcelain. These birds look like storks. I'm not quite sure what type of birds they are but look at the attention to detail. This piece has a gold gilt scalloped rim to the outer edge. I know I have not told you what it is yet. I'm keeping you in suspense. We go down here and you will see that this is an antique French dresser or jewelry box in a pale bubble gum pink and is absolutely beautiful. This piece has the gold gilt bronze edges and the beautiful gold gilt bronze ball and ring handles on both sides and these cute little balled feet. It has a double sided floral pattern and all of this was hand painted and hand done. Here is the little key hole cut out with a scalloped rim where the key would have gone. Here you can see the sides. It is in a beautiful oval shape. Not a circle or square which makes it really unique. Here you can see the design on the back. This piece doesn't look like the clasped lid totally seals evenly across the back as you can see there which I'm not concerned about because this is such a one of a kind unique piece. I will turn it back around so you can see the inside. This piece probably dates from the early 1900's to late 1800's. Here you can see the inside. It would have been used to hold jewelry or store valuables on the dresser. This piece definitely would have belonged to someone very wealthy because this would have been a very expensive piece back in the day and still is. It measures about 7 inches across from left to right, about 6 inches tall and about 4 inches in diameter and like I said it oval in shape. This is a hefty little piece, and when I put it on the scale it weighs about 3 lbs.
