How to Comfort Someone With the Loss of a Pet

Video Translation: Hi, this is Jennifer with City Farmhouse Antiques and I have been wanting to do a video now for a while just to help people that have a friend that has lost a pet. Those of you that are not dog lovers may not understand, but those of us that are dog lovers love our pets just like family and they are with us all the time. We mourn them and grieve them, just like a human when they die. As crazy as that may sound to some it is just the way that it is. Our dogs are with us all the time and when they are gone it most definitely leaves a huge hole in our heart. If you are looking for a gift or something you can do for a good friend or family member that has recently lost a pet reach out to them as it makes everyone feel better. My girlfriends and I always start with a bottle of wine and call and check in on each other. It wasn't until I had customers that started telling me they were buying my resin garden figurines as gifts as a remembrance of their dogs for themselves in the yard or for a friend that had lost a beloved pet that I thought of the idea and wanted to share it.  Unfortunately, I don't have any garden figurines for kitty cat lovers yet. I don't see as many. I don't want to discount the kitty lovers out there. These magnesium oxide dogs are perfect for memorial gardens because they are weather proof and can be used outside. This one here is an example and is a little bigger than some of the others we have. He is about 22 inches tall and you can see they are pretty in the garden. If you have a spot in the garden for a memorial they make a perfect marker. I had a childhood where if we lost a family pet dad would build a box and we would have a  classic burial ceremony and I think that is good for kids today because it teaches them to value life and be able to say "goodbye". This world could use more of that. That is something video games don't do. Again, I think having a garden memorial is a wonderful way to remember your beloved pet. In fact here is our shipping manager, my shepherd. I have been trying to take pictures of the dogs all morning and I keep getting photo bombed. I just got photo bombed again. Be sure and check us out on our website at www.cityfarmhouseantiques.com where we have more than just antiques and give us a like on Facebook. I hope this helps to give you ideas of what you can do to console someone who has lost a pet. Give that person a hug, a bottle of wine, and something to remember their puppy by until their heart heals enough to bring another one into their life. For those of you who have lost a dog or cat recently I am sorry and I truly feel your pain.
